Girl Scouts Peace and Friendship Program

Through hands-on learning activities, girls will learn about the importance of affirming others, problem solving as a team, conflict resolution, valuing differences, and communication

Session 1- The Power of Praise
Objective: Girls will learn how good it can feel to give and receive compliments.
Activity: Construct a friendship quilt.

Session 2- How to Deal
Objective: Girls will develop skills for conflict resolution and conflict prevention, and expore the value of considering ideas from a variety of viewpoints.
Activity: Acting in team skits and constructing a team puzzle.

Session 3- We're a Team
Objective: Girls will learn the importance of teamwork through cooperative games.
Activity: A bouquet (team) of flowers with each girl in the group creating their own flower to represent themselves.

Session 4- Differences are Cool
Objective: Girls will think and act in a way that promotes an inclusive environment and respects diverse backgrounds, viewpoints, and life experiences.
Activity: Girls will read Dr. Seuss's "The Sneetches" and construct a yarn doll.

Session 5- Communicating Peacefully
Objective: Girls will recognize the importance of building a supportive network of caring relationships for their personal development.
Activity: Creation of a "uniquely me" star mobile.

Session 6- Friends are Fun!
Objective: Girls will recognize the importance of healthy friendships.
Activity: Girls will make a friend scrapbook and a friendship bracelet.
